WHO WE ARE

THE SLOPES

Ober Gatlinburg

Ober Gatlinburg is an amusement park and ski area, located in the mountains overlooking Gatlinburg, Tennessee, USA. Established in 1962, the area contains a large mall with indoor amusements, a skating rink, snack bars, a full-service lounge, restaurant, and gift and clothing stores. Outside there is an alpine slide, the ski mountain coaster, a chair swing, a maze, mini golf and a scenic chairlift to the top of Mount Harrison, and kiddie rides. They have the new Ski Mountain Alpine Coaster that opened in August 2015!  What was formerly known as the Black Bear Habitat where visitors could see bears close-up recently expanded to become the Wildlife Encounter, where in addition to the bears there are animals native to the Great Smoky Mountains such as bobcats, river otters, opossums, raccoons, turtles, snakes, and flying squirrels. An aerial tram connects Ober Gatlinburg to downtown Gatlinburg, about 3 miles to the east.

About us...

We live in a small place in Eastern KY.  It doesn't even have a stop light.  If you blink, you would miss our little township.  We have 3 kids that are 20, 14, & 12.  We are at the stage with our kids that sometimes it is trying, since they are trying to find their own personality, and to find their voice and become apart of a productive society, while growing into adulthood.  We also have 3 fur babies.  Tilly is our sweet little pug girl.  Sketch is our Westie, while Khloe, our Scottie, is our newest addition.  She was a birthday present from Terry  in February 2016.  They are all spoiled rotten.  We also have a pot bellied pig name Wilbur.  He was supposed to be a micro pot belly pig, not getting much over 30 lbs, but he now weighs almost 100lbs, and too is spoiled.  We also have chickens & ducks, and baby chicks are born frequently.  We are just normal country folk, but like yourself, we love The Great Smoky Mountains.

Why this property?

We purchased this property in July 2016. It was a private home.  We have updated a lot of areas, to make it an overnight rental, with the kitchen and bathrooms being updated with new features.  It is overly decorated, but this makes it feel cozy and more like our home away from home.  The cabinets in the kitchen has been refurbished with wood that we retrieved from Terry's childhood home.  There are a lot of personal touches, which I am sure you won't find in other rentals.

We bought this property because we are in Gatlinburg many times a year with our children and furbabies, and found ourselves spending so much money to stay here.  Besides that, we couldn't bring our dogs.  There aren't many places that are pet friendly (but we are!!).  So we decided to just buy a property here.  We chose this property for the location, but mainly for the view.  We love Mount LeConte, and could sit for hours on the deck and just be in awe of the view.  We also love the fact that we can take in the fresh Smoky Mountain

air, especially after a rain shower.  This location is also centrally located with access to Gatlinburg just 10 minutes away.

We still have things to do to our Smoky Mountain home.  We plan on a hot tub install in the spring of 2017, as well as updates to the countertops, backsplash, and stainless steel appliances in the kitchen, hopefully in late 2017/early 2018 as well.  Hopefully we will have a set gas grill somewhere around our new hot tub install.  We are excited to offer you Bearly Afraid, and hope you choose us to enjoy your visit to The Great Smoky Mountains!
